Overview of percentages and amounts 2022

We adjust the amounts and percentages for the pension scheme each year. That may be necessary due to changes in the pension regulations or decisions by the employees’ and employers’ organisations (the “social partners”) in the merchant shipping industry. The figures for the year 2022 are given below. There are changes in the partner’s pension too.

** The stated percentages are calculated on the retirement pension that you accrue up to the age of 67 at the latest.

Slightly lower accrual of partner’s pension
The contribution currently paid is no longer sufficient for the agreed pension accrual. The social partners have therefore decided to slightly reduce the accrual for the partner’s pension in 2022. The partner’s pension on a risk basis is being increased. This is preferable to increasing the premium because it means that the pension scheme remains affordable.

The partner’s pension consists of two components:

  • The portion that the member accrues until the age of 67 at the latest. In 2022, that becomes 37.2% of the retirement pension (2021: 42.9%). If participation in the pension scheme ceases or you reach retirement age, this accrued partner’s pension remains.
  • The portion that is insured on a risk basis. In 2022, this will be 53.9% of the retirement pension that a member accrues until the age of 67 at the latest (2021: 48.2%). The risk-based partner’s pension ceases to apply three months after participation in the pension scheme terminates or upon retirement.

The above changes mean that for active members the total partner’s pension in the event of death remains the same as in 2021 (91.1% of the retirement pension). You can find the amount of the partner’s pension at My Koopvaardij (log in with DigiD or eIDAS). As of mid-February 2022, you will be able to see the amended pension regulations at Downloads.
